 16/10/24 Legal Issues - Legislation Legal imapct on media  -when producing digital media, there is a wide range of legislation that affects production -some of these are acts of law -some of these are legal issues Freedom of Inofrmation Act  Defamation Act  Libel - written slander- tweet,post  Slander - when you speak about someone in a way which puts their reputation down Interllectual property-  how you can protect it, and which of copyright, patents, design right and trade marks applies to your work. Defamation Act -Journalists must avoid making defamatory statements which could lead to libel cases. Defamatory statements are those which 'tend' to expose a person to 'hatred, ridicule or contempt', cause them to be 'shunned or avoided' or lowered in the estimation of 'right-thinking members of society'.  10/10/24 Revenue Streams Every project needs finance and this comes through streams of revenue. These come with risk, unpredictability and return. Things that affect the type of finance that can be used/attracted: Size of organization Commercial/Government what revenue streams are open to us: - a loan - investment  - steady income from previously produced product e.g. sale of cinema tickets, money from people who use pay per view or on demand  -sponsership -advertising companies pay you to advertise their product or service on your website -franchising  Revenue streams - ways for a company to generate revenue income  sponsorship - payment for brand association with final product. This could include big companies or smaller, local companies  Corporate finance - money injected by businesses convinced the project is a good investment and will provide a good return over a lengthy period of time  Advertising - payments for brand placement within a media pr...

Time Constraints

 10/10/24 Time Constraints Milestone - a significant moment in the project(meeting a client, finish a storyboard Deadline- whole product - submit the entire work to the client several milestones -  Producing a media product always has a deadline like any project.  If not met, could lead to failure, financial loss. Timescales work in reverse from the ultimate deadline, e.g. the release date of a movie. Within this overall timescale, the project may also have time constraints linked to: Location – film set/TV show Studio - Recording Equipment (borrowed/rented) Staff like actors/writers (other commitments) Catering/services (budget allows for limited time)

Factors which many bring constraints: time - every project has to meet the clients deadline finance/budget - there is a fixed amount of money towards the making of the media product - determins what you prioritise with spending money reasources - physical/creative reasorces, human reasources: equitments software logistical contraisnts- actually caputring the footage in a city says like london - the health and safety aspects of filming in a city/wires/traffic legal constraints - what laws are there which may prevent you from carrying out the work you need in media (copyright laws you cant use music or footage without permision) ethical constraints - what are the moral issues to consider when producing ...
