 16/10/24 Legal Issues - Legislation Legal imapct on media  -when producing digital media, there is a wide range of legislation that affects production -some of these are acts of law -some of these are legal issues Freedom of Inofrmation Act  Defamation Act  Libel - written slander- tweet,post  Slander - when you speak about someone in a way which puts their reputation down Interllectual property-  how you can protect it, and which of copyright, patents, design right and trade marks applies to your work. Defamation Act -Journalists must avoid making defamatory statements which could lead to libel cases. Defamatory statements are those which 'tend' to expose a person to 'hatred, ridicule or contempt', cause them to be 'shunned or avoided' or lowered in the estimation of 'right-thinking members of society'.
