Justification and Evaluation
Evaluation
- This will be the last question in your exam
- It will be worth 18 or 20 marks – this makes up around a quarter of the marks.
- The examiner expects 2 pages – overall it should be (minimum) four paragraphs
- It is crucial that you link your response back to the set brief.
- The evaluation could test you on any creative OR logistic documents
- Essentially it asks you why doing that piece of paperwork would be helpful or unhelpful for that project.
- Is not theory based
- Requires application of knowledge to practical briefs and settings
- There must be some evaluation – discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of that method
- You must show detailed knowledge of the method and where it fits in the pre-prod process
- Provide evidence to back up your reasoning – examples of why something is a strength or a weakness for that company/project
- You must use relevant technical terminology
- Strong SPAG – this is an essay question
Strength: Identify the pre-production document, what is it? Identify a strength of using this pre-production document alongside the brief – pick out a key element(s). E.g. “A storyboard includes hand drawn sketches, which makes it easy to visualise the intended sequence”How/why will it be beneficial to support the project?
Weakness: Identify what the pre-production document does not include. What other pre-production document would support the project? Why?
Strength: same as above
Weakness: same as above
Strong conclusion and remember that the command verb is to EVALUATE
